- Who Enters: The majority of entries come from the groups listed below; however, anyone with an in-store solution is eligible.

Path-to-Purchase companies including: digital, mobile, coupons, events, sampling, and other mediaAll entrants must obtain all necessary third-party releases and consents required for the contestant to compete and for the entry to be published in Shopper Marketing and on the Path to Purchase Institute's website.
- What is Eligible?
All in-store marketing activation tactics that first appeared in retail outlets between January 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 are eligible. Entries that are still being produced are eligible as long as they originally appeared in stores during the same 17-month period. No samples or prototypes are eligible. All entries must be from a production run of at least 50 units.
- Deadline for Entries
All entries must be received by Friday, June 10, 2011 at 5:00pm CST. If you cannot get your entry to us by Friday, June 10, you may have until Friday, June 17 but you must add an additional $100 U.S. per entry.
- Judging
Judging will be based on the entry's ability to command attention, connect with the shopper, convey information and close the sale as set forth in the Contest Declaration. All decisions of the judges and the Path to Purchase Institute are final.
NEW! Finalists will be announced following the first round of judging on August 3 at the Target Corp. Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. Gold, Platinum, and Best of Times winners will be announced at the Design of the Times Awards Dinner on October 19 during the Shopper Marketing Expo.
NEW! Only finalists are invited - and required - to set up their in-store activation tactic in the DOT Gallery on October 17 in preparation for the final round of judging at the Shopper Marketing Expo on October 18. Finalists are responsible for all arrangements and expenses related to setup including, but not exclusive to, drayage and labor.
- Number of Entries
There is no limit to the number of entries that a company or individual may submit. Each entry must be submitted separately and include a completed Nomination Form, Contest Declaration and uploaded photo (max. 3.) An entry is not considered complete until payment is received at the Path to Purchase Institute. Entries can be submitted in multiple retail channels, assuming they qualify. Entries submitted in multiple retail channels must be entered separately in each channel.
- When to Ship Display
NEW! Only finalists will be invited and required to ship their display to the Design of the Times gallery. Finalists will be notified by email in August after the first round of judging. All displays must be shipped and positioned for set-up in the gallery on Monday, October 17. A complete finalist packet will be sent in mid-August.
The Path to Purchase Institute reserves the right to reclassify entries. The Institute further reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with the contest rules. If an entrant is disqualified, the entry fee will not be refunded. Entries received after the final deadline will not be returned or refunded. All material submitted for the contest becomes the property of the Institute and will not be returned. The Institute reserves the publishing rights for the use of all contest materials. Submission of an entry grants the Institute and its agents the right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify an entry in any way, in any and all media now known or to be developed, without limitation and without additional compensation to entrant. Entries must be original work for the entrant and must not infringe third-party rights. Entrant agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Path to Purchase Institute, Inc., its employees, directors and agents as to any claims relating to the submission or use of the entry in the contest.
